Removing Infected Gum Tissues With Periodontal Surgery
The main cause of periodontal disease is plaque, it is a colorless film that sticks on the surface of the teeth. Toxins are that irritates the gums are being produced when plaque is not removed, it destroys the tissues that surrounds the teeth resulting to pocket formation. Plaque can hardened and form into a rough deposit called calculus or tartar and overtime gums will continue to pull away from the teeth. When these happens gum and bone attachment to the teeth are lost causing the pockets to be deeper, and teeth can be loose too. Brushing and flossing are not enough to keep the deep pockets clean and free from plaque, and it can be even too deep for your dentist or hygienist to clean. Your dentist or dental hygienist will recommend a periodontal surgery to remove the plaque and calculus below stuck below your gumline. Pocket reduction will probably be the best periodontal surgery option for you to reduce and minimize areas where disease- causing bacteria to hide.
If gum infection is not treated, damaged gums and bone attachment to the teeth will continue and accumulated plaque along the roots of the teeth causing the infection to become more serious. By cleaning the teeth regularly through brushing and flossing, plaque will be eliminated, and periodic dental check up and professional cleanings must be observed to effectively prevent gum infection and expensive periodontal surgery procedures.
